Reseller guide

Reseller vs master reseller

Updated 2 Nov 2026 Hostsawa team

The difference in one line

A reseller creates cPanel accounts. A master reseller creates reseller accounts as well, so the people you sell to can resell in turn.

That is the whole distinction. Everything else — WHM, branding, nameservers, your own prices — is the same at both levels.

When the extra level pays

  • You sell to other web designers, and they want accounts of their own to hand to clients
  • You have partners or branches who should manage their own customers without seeing yours
  • You are building a distributor network rather than selling direct

If your customers are website owners, you will never use the extra level, and you will have paid for it every month.

How the three levels behave

You

Hold the plan and the total allowance. Create both reseller accounts and ordinary cPanel accounts, and decide what each one gets.

Your resellers

Get their own WHM, their own branding and their own nameservers, and create cPanel accounts out of the allocation you gave them. They cannot exceed it and they cannot see each other.

Their clients

An ordinary cPanel account. As far as they know they bought hosting from your reseller.

Choosing honestly

Most people who ask this question need the ordinary plan. The master level is for a specific business model — selling to sellers — and if you are not already being asked for reseller accounts by your customers, you do not have that model yet.

You can move up later, on the same server, with your accounts intact. So start where you are.

Frequently asked questions

Can I upgrade from reseller to master reseller?

Yes, on the same server, and your existing accounts come with you.

Do my resellers see each other?

No. Each one has their own WHM and their own allocation, and neither sees the other’s accounts.

Is master reseller white label too?

Yes, at every level. Your resellers see your brand; their clients see your resellers’.

Which should I start with?

The ordinary reseller plan, unless customers are already asking you for reseller accounts.
