Frequently asked questions
How much does a .net domain cost in Kenya?
Registration is Ksh 1,980 a year and renewal is Ksh 2,200. We do not use a cheap first year and an expensive renewal — the price you register at is the price it renews at.
Who can register a .net domain?
Anyone, anywhere — individuals, businesses and organisations. No documents are needed.
Can I transfer my .net domain to Hostsawa?
Yes. Unlock it at your current registrar, get the authorisation (EPP) code, and start the transfer here. A transfer costs Ksh 1,980 and adds a year to the registration. It usually takes five to seven days, which is a registry rule. Your website and email keep working throughout, as long as the DNS records stay the same.
Do I need hosting as well?
No. A domain can be registered on its own and pointed anywhere you like, and you get full DNS control either way. Most people add hosting when they are ready to build the site.
Can I get email on a .net address?
Yes, with any hosting plan — unlimited mailboxes on your own domain, with spam filtering and webmail, readable in Outlook or on your phone.
How long until it works?
Usually within minutes, though some extensions take a little longer to propagate across the internet.
Read the domain guides — what a domain is, how DNS works, and how to move one without downtime.
